How the Kaiserschmarrn got it’s name? The Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph I. loved pancakes as a dessert. But his kitchen chef messed it up once and it got to thick so he pulled it to pieces – served with raisins and icing sugar.
Cute bunnies and guinea pigs, sheep, snorting pigs and a few chickens call ‘DasEulersberg’ their home. Feel free to observe and pet our animals in their enclosures.

New Year´s Eve
Fireworks and firecrackers are part of every New Year´s Eve, but why is there such a noisy tradition? Already in the medieval people tried to make loud noises: with pots, rattles, drums and trumpets. Church bells were used and they fired guns as well.

St. Nicholas and Krampus
To separate the good and the bad isn´t always easy. The same counts for the merciful St. Nicholas and the devilish Krampus.
We have a rich tradition about the holy Barbara. Besides her role as a gift bringing person before Christmas, up until today branches of fruit trees get cut off and put in water on the 4th of December. Branches of trees like: sour cherry, apple, pear and plum are used for those “Barbarazweige”.
The boss himself is cooking here in our kitchen at “DasEulersberg”. He spoils you with hearty regional dishes, that´s why we try to create our menu suitable for everyone.
Once Mother Holle starts to fluff her pillows it means SNOW here at DasEulersberg. The first snow is something beautiful, the snowflakes are dancing and transfer the landscape in a white sparkling ocean.
We welcome you at “DasEulersberg” for any celebration. It can be the baptism or the first communion for your child, the contemplative christmas celebration or the fun birthday party. Up to 70 people can fit in our restaurant. We offer traditional food like house-made bread dumplings, “Käsespätzle”, “Kaiserschmarren” and so much more.
For `All Saints´ traditionally people go to the cementary to visit their deceased relatives. They decorate the graves with flowers (like aster or chrysanthemum), light candles (soul or eternal light) and pray for them. Grave blessings take place at noon as well.
To be outside means to experience memorable stories. If you listen carefully everything tells you it´s own story – the season, the animals, the tree, the forrest, the path, the stars.
The region “Dachstein-Gebirge” is a hiking-paradise. With currently 961 hiking paths leisure athletes and active vacationers get a massive diversified offer. In total there are 848 hikes, 72 long-distance paths, 21 pilgrimage routes and 20 others which lead through this beautiful part of the world and invite to explore the “Dachstein-Gebirge”.
There´s so much to see outside of the mesmerizing chalet. The property is surrounded by countless hiking and walking paths, beautiful forrests and obviously the breathtaking view right from your terrace.
It´s a tradition to celebrate the harvest festival in September here in our Pongau-region. Heaps of local associations and locals are visiting the church and the regional procession to show their appreciation and to thank for the great harvest of crop plants, grain and vegetables.
The “Moosalm” is located at 1.640 meters above sea level. You can reach it either through a one and a half hour walk from Zaglau or via an easy 25 minute descent from the top station of the cable car. The “Moosalm” exists for 200 years aleady and is cultivated for about 60 years.
World Children´s Day
The World Children´s Day gets celebrated in Austria as well, just on different days. No matzter if it´s the first of June, the 20th of September or the 20th of November – Kids enjoy their time here the whole year.
In late summer so called “Eierschwammerl” are growing in this area. It´s heaps of fun to collect those mushrooms in a cozy atmosphere. A cozy moss-landscape and fallen trees, just like a fairy tale. Those little golden yellow creatures love the moist mossy spruce forest. The more you can look forward to a tasty “Eierschwammerl”-goulash with bread dumplings, cooked in your own chalet, enjoyed on the terrace with a mesmerizing view.
Begin of autumn
The sun is still spoiling us and we´re still getting summerly temperatures during the day. But signs of autumn are showing as well: the days are getting shorter, you´ll need warmer jackets especially in the mornings and the leaves are getting more colorful.
The chalets at the Eulersberg are the ideal place for a very private romantic vacation for two. Enjoy the breathtaking view and relax in your own sauna or by the crackling fireplace.
The tour to the Bischlingalm always starts with a breathtaking panorama, regardless of whether you go up with the mountain railroad "Ikarus" or choose the ascent via the Scharte.
Cheers - and a toast with a delicious schnapps. DasEulersberg offers various schnapps from local distilleries, such as the classic Bauernobstler, the Zirben, the Marillenschnaps or the Williamsbirne. The rowanberry schnapps and the elderberry schnapps are also particularly popular. So you don't have to worry about digestion - Chef Josef will be happy to advise.
The dog - the best friend of man. And so, it is also important that your four-legged friend feels comfortable with us. The fresh air, the lush grass and all around a lot of nature.
The delicious bacon snack with many homemade products is waiting for you after a long relaxing day. Chef Joe prepares the plate with much love and makes sure to use local products.

Our little farm
At DasEulersberg we also have numerous "pets", first and foremost our Chihuahua dog Toni and our two cats Lilly and Willi.
One of the most beautiful mountain excursions leads to the Tappenkarsee lake in Kleinarl. During a hike of about three and a half hours, about 700 meters of altitude are overcome until the lake is reached and the magnificent mountain panorama opens up.
Our chalet village with the apartments DasEulersberg is located at 970 meters above sea level in the beautiful Pongau region of Salzburg.
A custom that also has a long tradition are the mountain fires that are lit at the solstice around June 21.
Who does not look forward to the warm rays of the sun in the last hours of the day, which still warm our bodies. On the terraces of the chalets of DasEulersberg and also on the large sun terrace of the main house this is comfortably possible.

There are many assumptions about the origin of the traditional "Kaiserschmarren". Schmarren was first mentioned in 1563 in a wedding sermon, which spoke of "feisty" Schmarren. Every year at carnival time the "fools" awake at DasEulersberg. Traditionally, on Shrove Monday, people dress up in funny costumes, dance and feast on delicious "Faschingskrapfen". Before that, you can be spoiled by the chef Joe with local dishes such as the "Pongauer Fleischkrapfen". Afterwards, nothing stands in the way of a convivial carnival night.
